Travel for work or pleasure while watching the waistline is quite a task. When air time is involved, you can bet that the scent of Cinnabon will be wafting through the airport to lure you towards temptation. If you haven’t fortified yourself with a good breakfast before leaving home, this can be a rough start. Resist the temptation by planning ahead.
When traveling on long flights, it’s easy to pack small baggies of foods to stow in your carry on. Here are some great options for traveling:
Sugar snap peas and Persian cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, celery, a few baby carrots.
Sliced apple with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top
Almonds or Pistachios (preferably in the shell so you don’t go overboard)
Remember fruit leather? It’s a great option for calming the sweet tooth. It’s a nice sticky little treat when everyone else is gobbling Twizzlers.
2 oz. Packets of tuna and salmon
Low sodium jerky
Protein powder for an emergency hunger stopper
Small bottles of water
It’s OK to give yourself leeway when going on a vacation. Instead of focusing on losing, consider simply maintaining your weight while you’re away. If you’ve been on a lower carbohydrate diet, it’s OK to increase your allowance by a few servings. You can moderate your intake in any situation, allow yourself wiggle room, but not so much that you will be starting from square one again once your vacation is over.
